Description of the plant: A small tree, bark prominently scroll-marked. Leaves shortly petiolate, opposite, young leaves opposite-decussate and old ones opposite-superposed, oblong-lanceolate to elliptic, usually acuminate, rounded at the base, margin entire, subglabrouss above, puberulent beneath. Flowers white on 1-3 flowered axillary peduncles. Fruit a globose or pyriform berry, green or yellowish-green when ripe.
Plant parts used: Leaf.
Medicinal uses: Decoction of leaves is taken in cholera, for stop vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhoea, and as a gargle in bleeding gums.
Leaves are used in bowels, wound and ulcers.
Distribution: It is found throughout the country.
